The Paranormal Institute

Class information for the Paranormal Institute

We will be releasing the basic class information around the spring of 2012. We want to be sure to provide quality topics that the general public is striving for and we are currently conducting research in this area. The list will not be set in stone and will actually evolve with the input of attendees of courses or the general public. There is already an expansive list of courses we have considered, but will be initially concentrating on specific topics to begin with. The poll at the left offers you a chance to vote on what you would like to learn. The subjects presented are ones we are considering for our official launch in the spring of 2011, but different ideas may present themselves. If you have an idea for a class or have other contact information please see our Contact page.

We are considering a variety of teaching methods as well as learning environments, but this will depend on the location we teach at. Our initial goals are small, but we do plan to grow this over time to allow for many interesting ways to learn about this subject without too great of a cost. We are also exploring ways to bring our classes to the public at large without limiting the learning to our classrooms.

Where will the classes be held?
The groups teaching the Paranormal Institute are located in northeast Ohio, so this is where the courses will begin. We have secured a site which will minimize the cost of the classes, is near three major freeways, and has a rich historical value. We will eventually offer these courses in other locations in Ohio and will explore moving this endeavor to other areas of the United States if all goes well, but one thing at a time.

First class released for Paranormal Institute

The Paranormal Institute will be teaching "Beyond 101", a look beyond the basics of ghost investigation with a slant toward the "ghost hunt" scene. These classes will accompany a freelance or structured "ghost hunt" of various facilities. The first date for the class is scheduled for June 18, 2011 at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Linesville, Pennsylvania. With this class we hope to break the mold of what many to believe to be the "right" way to conduct a "ghost hunt" or paranormal investigation. So much of the culture surrounding ghost investigation has been impacted negatively by television and the pursuit of adventure and subjective experiences. Science has been completely lost even with all of the equipment. Find out the reality behind what happens at these events, how science should really be used, and experience all of this yourself in a haunted environment!

We have also designed a "Paranormal Investigations: Beyond 101" course for those interested in the client-centered approach. This class was held for free at the Westerville Public Library on October 27, 2011.
